Gianni Manera (born February 18, 1940 in Asmara , Eritrea , † June 10, 2013 in Rome ) was an Italian actor and film director .

Life

Manera played a few supporting roles in movies between 1965 and 1968 and directed La lunga ombra del lupo according to his own script in 1969 , in which he also took the lead role. The film led to charges against him for allegedly "calling for the formation of an armed group". Five years later a crime film followed, then a Mafia strip, which had to be interrupted again and again for three years due to financial problems, as Manera was one of the first Italian directors to finance his films independently. A last film, shot in 1999, went unpublished at all. He later lived in Peru . The singer Alma Manera is his daughter.
