Lo sceriffo di Rock Spring ( "the Sheriff of Rock Spring") is a non-published in German-speaking spaghetti western from 1971; one of two genre works by the director Mario Sabatini , operating here under a pseudonym . Richard Harrison plays the leading role .

action

There are disputes between Mormons and Protestants in the town of Rock Spring. When a child is elected sheriff for a few days, as is the old custom every year, Stephen, supported by the Protestant majority, competes against Schelly, nominated by the Mormons, and wins. Since the bandit Burt, who has escaped from prison, is hiding near the town, there is soon a hostage: Burt has stolen a weapon in the house of Mormon Jones and kidnapped Dania, the poor farmer's daughter. Schelly has been able to observe this, but finds no faith in the adults, so that he rounds up some of his underage friends to set out on the pursuit of Burt. Although he can easily shake off the boys, he is now facing the adults who followed the children's group. You can overwhelm him. Stephen recognizes the courage of his opponent and hands him the sheriff's star. Both religious groups celebrate together.

criticism

Christian Keßler puts it: "If the film is still a bit prepubescent in terms of craftsmanship, it delivers at least politically correct goods", but clearly criticizes the sweetness, which is apparently aimed at young viewers. The Segnalazioni Cinematografiche described the narrative style as "unbalanced" and the direction as "rather weak", but found some elements of the plot to be original and deviating from worn traditional patterns.

Remarks

The song La canzona del coyote intends Lorella Limoncelli .
