Marc Brummund (born March 3, 1970 in Diepholz , Lower Saxony ) is a German film director , screenwriter and film producer .

Life

Born in Diepholz, Brummund grew up in Südoldenburg, Baden-Württemberg, Friesland, Rhineland-Palatinate and Norway. From 1991 to 1996 he studied psychology and journalism in Hamburg . This was followed by studies with a focus on documentary film at ZeLIG, the school for documentary film, television and new media in Bolzano .

Then Brummund worked as a director and actor. He also worked as a lighting technician, sound and camera assistant in international productions. Since 1999 he has also been a director of commercials (Renault, Volksbank, WWF, Nescafé, HypoVereinsbank, Pepsi, United Nations, Carlsberg) and since 2002 he has been a regular member of juries and lectures. From 2004 to 2006 he completed his studies in the directing master class at the Hamburg Media School .

The films made in Hamburg were each voted among the best 100 German short films of their year by the AG Kurzfilm & German Films. For Home , Outside , Pushing Cows and Winning Land , Brummund received awards at the Berlinale , in Cannes , the German Short Film Award of the BKM in 2005 and 2007, the First Steps Award 2007, the Studio Hamburg Young Talent Award 2007 and a nomination for the Student Oscar 2007 .

Subsequently, Brummund received directing orders for the television series Die 25th Hour (RTL, 2008) and Der Dicke (Das Erste, 2009). His film Freistatt was awarded the audience award and the youth jury award at the Max Ophüls film festival . The theatrical release in German cinemas took place on June 25, 2015.
