Aída Bortnik
Aída Bortnik (born January 7, 1938 in Buenos Aires ; † April 27, 2013 there ) was an Argentine screenwriter and writer .
Life
Aída Bortnik was born in Buenos Aires in 1938 as the daughter of Ukrainian immigrants. At the age of 20, she began studying both law and theater in order to be able to finance her passion as an actress as a lawyer. She then worked as a journalist for a few years. After writing the television film Sebastián y su amigo el artista for the first time as a screenwriter in 1971 , she later adapted Mario Benedetti's novel La tregua for the film The Armistice , which was nominated for an Oscar in 1975 for Best Foreign Language Film . However, she ended up on a blacklist from 1975 , so that she was prohibited from pursuing both her film career and her journalism. When she was persecuted by Perón's military dictatorship, she fled first to France and then to Spain , where she lived for several years.
However, she never stopped writing and used her experiences under the military regime and the Dirty War to create the script for The Official Story , for which she was honored with an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay in 1986 .
Most recently, Bortnik held private writing and film analysis courses.
