Klaus Behrendt

Klaus Behrendt (born December 7, 1920 in Königsberg , Prussia ; † October 11, 2013 in Greifswald ) was a German actor .

Life

After graduating from high school, Behrendt took acting lessons from Werner Raffael .

In 1939 he made his debut as "Raimund" in Friedrich Schiller's Johanna von Orleans at the Städtische Bühnen Schauspielhaus Königsberg , where he received his first engagement until 1940. Then Behrendt moved to the State Theater Allenstein (1940-1941).

After the Second World War, Behrendt initially worked for the Alpenland transmitter in Graz (1945–1946). Further stage stations were the Hessian State Theater in Wiesbaden under the direction of Karl-Heinz Stroux (1946–1950), the German Theater Göttingen under the direction of Heinz Hilpert (1950–1964) and from 1965 to 1986 the Vienna Burgtheater .

After his debut at the Burgtheater, Behrendt settled in the Lower Austrian wine town of Gumpoldskirchen , south of Vienna , where, as a prominent wine connoisseur, he maintained a close relationship with local winemakers and where he repeatedly returned long after the end of his professional career.

Klaus Behrendt taught at the Max Reinhardt Seminar Vienna for eleven years, and one of his students there was the later Burgtheater director Klaus Bachler .

In addition, Behrendt occasionally worked in film productions. You could see him in Karl-Heinz Stroux's Goethe adaptation Encounter with Werther , in Rolf Thiele's Knittel film El Hakim , in the war drama Dogs, Do You Want to Live Forever , in the Heinz Erhardt comedy Naturally the Motorists .

Behrendt became known to a wider audience primarily through numerous large and small roles in television productions. He took on guest roles in series such as Tatort , Der Kommissar and, above all, Derrick .

Klaus Behrendt, whose passion was ship travel, found his final resting place in a funeral at sea.
