Larry Pennell

Larry Pennell (actually Alessandro Pennelli , born February 21, 1928 in Uniontown , Pennsylvania , † August 28, 2013 ) was an American actor .

Life

Pennell, whose mother was a Cherokee half-blood, first made a career as a baseball player . His teams were Bluefield Blue-Grays (1948), Modesto Reds (1949), Evansville Braves (1949), Jackson Senators (1950) and Evansville Braves (1953).

Pennell's film career began in 1955 with small roles. He became known as the skydiver Ted McKeever alongside Ken Curtis in 76 episodes of the 1961 to 1963 television series Jump Out of the Clouds ( Ripcord ). In the 1960s, he was only seen on the big screen in European productions. In the Karl May film Old Surehand Part 1 in 1965, for example, he embodied the leader of the bandits, known as the "General", the opponent of Old Surehand ( Stewart Granger ). After that he was mainly seen in numerous television series.

Due to his resemblance to the actor Clark Gable , he was repeatedly used as the actor. He played Gable in 1980 Marilyn Monroe - A True Story ( Marilyn: The Untold Story ), 1989 A dog meaner heartbreaker ( Another Chance ) and 1993 in the wake Goodbye Norma Jean the series Quantum Leap ( Quantum Leap ).
