Lou Scheimer

Lou Scheimer (born October 19, 1928 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania , † October 17, 2013 in Tarzana , Los Angeles , California ) was an American producer and one of the original founders of the Filmation cartoon company. He produced many cartoon series with Filmation in the 1980s.

Scheimer's most famous creation was the animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe . A movie later followed under the name The Secret of the Magic Sword .

In addition to his production activities, Scheimer also worked as a voice actor in his series, albeit under the pseudonym Erik Gunden . Among other things, he gave the He-Man characters Orko, Stratos and King Randor his voice. This step was necessary because the budget for the series was very tight and you couldn't afford a large number of voice actors.

With Masters of the Universe Scheimer created the first television series based on characters .

His daughter Erika Scheimer is also active as a voice actress. She lent her voice to the characters Queen Angela and Loo-Kee from the series She-Ra , among others .
