action

On the distant planet Eternia, the sorceress of Castle Grayskull has a dream in which the newborn girl Adora is kidnapped into another dimension by the villain Hordak . When the sorceress wakes up, she sees a sword floating in front of her , very similar to the magic sword of He-Man , the leader of the defenders of Eternia against Skeletor and his warriors of evil. The sword shows her the way to a hidden dimensional portal.

The sorceress then calls Adam and Cringer - the true identities of He-Man, the leader of the defenders Eternias and his fighting tiger, Battle-Cat - and sends them both through the portal with the sword. It turns out that in the world behind the dimensional portal, the planet Etheria, the people of Hordak and his horde are oppressed. Only a small rebellion opposes the Horde. Adam joins the rebellion as He-Man and realizes during a fight between the rebellion and the Horde that Force Commander Adora, the right hand of Hordak, must be the one to bring the sword.

Hey-You can convince Adora that the Horde is really evil and not the rebellion as Hordak claims. It turns out that Adora is Adam's twin sister . She was kidnapped as a newborn by Hordak in revenge after Etheria, when his attack with the Horde on Eternia and Castle Grayskull had failed. Adam was supposed to be kidnapped too, but he was saved in time. Skeletor, the protégé of Hordak, remained on Eternia for fear of Hordak, as he had failed to kidnap He-Man.

With the help of the sword that He-Man Adora brought with him, Adora is transformed into She-Ra. She frees He-Man and joins the rebellion. But first she wants to get to know her parents, King Randor and Queen Marlena of Eternia. Together with Adam she walks through the dimensional portal as Adora. Hordak also manages to get to Eternia, where he immediately makes his way to Snake Mountain, his former base.

(*) While the reunion with Adora is being celebrated in the royal palace, Hordak and Skeletor make a pact and attack the palace together. With a trick they manage to kidnap Adora again. However, Skeletor betrays Hordak and sends him back to Etheria through another dimensional portal. Adora herself, however, can overpower her guardian, Beast-Man, and transform herself into She-Ra.

(*) Back in the royal palace, She-Ra makes the difficult decision to return to Etheria to help the people oppressed by the Horde there.

On Etheria, the rebellion plans to liberate Bright Moon Castle, which has been occupied by the Horde. When She-Ra and He-Man, who accompanied them once more, arrive, a huge army of animals suddenly appears who want to support the rebellion in the Battle of Bright Moon.

The battle for Bright Moon ends with a victory for the rebels, but before Hordak escapes with Shadow Weaver, he warns She-Ra that a victorious battle does not mean a victorious war. After the battle during the Victory Celebrations of the Liberated People, He-Man asks She-Ra if she is happy. Yes and no, she replies, because she cannot return to Eternia because the people of Etheria still need her. As she leaves the battlefield with her flying unicorn Swift Wind, He-Man sheds a sad tear.

Reviews

"A poorly drawn martial cartoon film, both mentally and formally monotonous."

Others

  • In The Secret of the Sword is a compilation of the first five regular episodes of the animated series She-Ra: Princess of Power , whose purpose was to make the series already known before the start of a wider audience. Unfortunately, the German version of the film was shortened so that it is shorter than the respective episodes combined. She-Ra: Princess of Power was the sequel to He-Man and the Masters of the Universe . Like the two series, the film was produced by Filmation .
  • The secret of the magic sword , unlike the She-Ra TV series, was dubbed by the speakers of the Europa radio play series, which means that all voices in this film differ from those of the regular cartoons.
  • The Secret of the Magic Sword was first released on DVD in Germany on December 5, 2005. On April 12, 2007 the film was released again on DVD, this time including the uncut version, but only in English.
  • Sabine Schulz is listed in the opening credits as the voice actress for Teela, but she cannot be seen in the German version due to the shortened storyline.
