Ghostbusters is an American animated series from 1986 to 1988. The 65 episodes of the Ghostbusters series were produced by the Filmation company as a result of the success of the 1984 hit movie Ghostbusters - Die Geisterjäger . Filmation's Ghostbusters are based on the television series The Ghost Busters from 1975 to 1976, to which Filmation held the rights. The cartoon is not to be confused with the series The Real Ghostbusters , which was created almost at the same time and was loosely based on the 1984 film.

action

Jake Kong and Eddie Spencer are the sons of the protagonists of the 1970s Ghostbusters. Only Gorilla Tracy remains of the former line-up, who already worked with their fathers. The headquarters of the Ghostbusters, the Ghost Command , is an inconspicuous mansion that looks shabby from the outside and is located in the middle of the urban canyons of a modern city. The Ghostbusters hoard their equipment on the premises: a speaking phone, a similarly designed television, their mutant pet Belfry, their rickety GeeBee emergency vehicle (onomatopoeic for GB; "Ghost Buggy") and their ghost blasters.

Together and with the support of various friends, they face the unscrupulous spirit leader Prime Evil and his henchmen.

Characters

The Ghostbusters & their allies

Jake Kong Jr.
is, like his father before him, the undisputed leader of the Ghostbusters and as such makes all important decisions. In addition to good ideas and ideas, it often turns out to be useful for his troops that when ghosts are present he gets chronic nasal itching and thus tracks them down accurately. Jake wields the ghost hunters' main weapon, the dematerializer, whose rays disintegrate the ghostly figures.
Eddie Spencer Jr.
he is also the son and successor of his father of the same name. And like him, Eddie is a good-natured, but also easily terrible and clumsy character, whose clumsiness often gets friends into trouble. Eddie usually carries the ghost gummer with him on missions, a weapon that fixes ghosts in place and prepares Jake's kills.
Tracey
The gorilla worked under Jake and Eddie's fathers, making it the longest-serving member of the Ghostbuster team. Although he cannot speak, the primate is extremely intelligent and is therefore responsible for the construction and maintenance of the ghosthunters' equipment and weapons. In addition to his technical skills, Tracey is also a useful weapon companion for his comrades thanks to his enormous physical strength.
Jessica Wray
The reporter is a good friend of the Ghostbusters. In order to get stories, she often pursues ghost apparitions and so her paths often cross with those of the heroes, from time to time she even joins them for missions. Jessica and Jake seem fond of each other and therefore flirt with each other quite often.
Belfry
is a little pig-bat mutant who is a kind of pet of the Ghostbusters. Although he can defend himself with his ultrasound scream “Belfry-Blast”, the friends mostly leave the eager little fellow at the headquarters because of the great danger of the missions.
Futura
is a ghost hunter from a distant future who shows up every now and then to give the Ghostbusters a helping hand, but often also to ask for their help. In missions, both their knowledge of upcoming events and their telekinetic skills are of great advantage. Futura also has a flying scooter, the Time Hopper .

The hordes of ghosts

Prime Evil
is a mixture of demon and robot in appearance and the main enemy of the Ghostbusters. The magician resides in a gigantic, nave-like glass dome and is the leader of the hordes of ghosts. The tyrant appears disparaging and often indignant towards his various henchmen. Not least because they are always defeated in their missions against the Ghostbusters he hated. Prime Evil's monstrous organ is equipped with countless magical functions that the villain can activate via the keyboard if necessary.
Scared stiff
The slim, constantly scared robot is a kind of private secretary of Prime Evil and as such is often the target of its capricious outbursts, through which it is regularly broken down into individual parts.
Roasting advice
The helper and personal "advisor" of Prime Evil, depicted in the shape of a rat, has the classic character of a villain: devious, devious and unconscionable, but above all loyal to his powerful leader. Braterrat often has to serve when Prime Evil fails again. In all its wickedness, Braterrat tries very hard to come up with ideas that are as good as possible, and mostly very bad and mean, that could harm the Ghostbusters.
