Gerald Igor Hauzenberger

Gerald Igor Hauzenberger (* 1968 in Alkoven (Upper Austria) ) is an Austrian film director .
biography
Hauzenberger completed his studies in film and theater studies in Berlin and Vienna , the course in film and humanities, as well as the Federal Graphical Education and Research Institute in Vienna.
Since 1996 he has worked as a director, cameraman, project curator and producer. In 2006/2007 he taught at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and the University of Applied Sciences in St. Pölten.
He has received several awards for the documentary Once Sweet Home - Encounters in Transylvania , including the FIPRESCI Award (The International Federation of Film Critics) at the largest Romanian film festival TIFF , the main prize at the Russian Film Festival in Saratov and the Erasmus Euromedia Sponsorship Award .
The trial , a documentary film based on the specific example of the Wiener Neustädter Tierschützer process , thematizes democracy, civil disobedience and preventive security policy, was awarded the Vienna Film Prize and the More Value Award at the Viennale in November 2011 and as the best documentary film at the Austrian Film Prize 2013 .
In his documentary film Last Shelter , published in 2015, Hauzenberger deals with the topic of migration and flight. For the documentation, he accompanied those refugees from 2012 who occupied the Votive Church in Vienna in protest .
