Originally located in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place belonged to the Duchy of Austria since the 12th century. Since 1490 it has been assigned to the Principality of Austria ob der Enns . During the Napoleonic Wars , the place was occupied several times. Since December 15, 1907, the first post bus route has passed through alcoves on what is now Austrian territory. In 1912 the Linz Local Railway (LILO) was opened. Since 1918 the place belongs to the federal state of Upper Austria. After Austria was annexed to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the "Gau Oberdonau". After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria took place.

coat of arms

Blazon : split from red and blue by a silver wave pole; covered by a silver morning star and a silver halberd with golden, diagonally crossed stems. The community colors are red-white-blue. The red-blue shield, divided by a wavy bar, is the family coat of arms of the Aspan von Lichtenhaag, who were in the possession of Hartheim Castle for over three centuries from 1323 to 1639.

Halberd and Morgenstern refer to the bitter battle in the Emlinger Holz, in which on November 9, 1626 the Obderennsischen farmers were defeated by the Bavarian and imperial troops under Gottfried Heinrich zu Pappenheim and Löbl.
