Haibach ob der Donau is a municipality with 1289 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in Upper Austria in the Eferding district in the Hausruckviertel . The community is located in the judicial district of Eferding .
geography
Haibach ob der Donau is 528 m above sea level in the Hausruckviertel. The extension is 9 km from north to south and 7.2 km from west to east. The total area is 25.6 km², 45.3% of the area is forested, 41.4% of the area is used for agriculture.

history
In Roman times, the district of Schlögen was the location of a fort and possibly also a naval station of the Danube fleet (classis Histriae), see small fort Schlögen . Originally located in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place belonged to the Duchy of Austria since the 12th century. Since 1490 it has been assigned to the Principality of Austria ob der Enns . During the Napoleonic Wars , the place was occupied several times.
The municipality has belonged to the federal state of Upper Austria since 1918. After the connection of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the place to "Upper Danube" belonged. In 1945 Upper Austria was restored.

Population development
In 1991 the community had 1,232 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 it had 1,278 inhabitants.
Culture and sights
- Small fort Schlögen : Preserved remains of the west gate of the Roman fort.
- Stauf castle ruins in Hinterberg: The castle was built in the middle of the 12th century and was owned by the Lords of Schaunberg until 1559. The medieval castle consists of a keep, the palace and the outer bailey, of which the main walls still exist.
