Holzhausen is a municipality in Upper Austria in the Wels-Land district in the Hausruckviertel with 1026 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The responsible judicial district is Wels.
geography
Holzhausen is located at an altitude of 329 m in the Hausruckviertel. The extension is 5.7 km from north to south and 3.1 km from west to east. The total area is 7.8 km². 7.7% of the area is forested and 79.5% of the area is used for agriculture.

coat of arms
Official description of the municipal coat of arms: In red, a golden star accompanied by two golden grapevine leaves, enclosed by two slanted silver bars. The community colors are yellow-green.
The star is taken from the coat of arms of Baron Konrad Schütz von Holzhausen, which can be seen on a portrait oil painting from the period 1530/40, restored in 1950, and on a keystone of the vault in the parish church built around 1550. In addition, two grapevine leaves, which are to remind of the now completely extinct, medieval open-air viticulture in the former Pannonian climate of the central and eastern Alpine foothills between Traisen, Enns and Inn (today still the field name "Weinberg" for a slope in the town center).
history
Holzhausen should be in 9./10. Century.
The first documentary mention of Holzhausen took place in 1130 as the seat of the rulership of Holzhusen . In 1475 the current church was built in Gothic style as a castle church of the Schütz family .

In 1991 the community had 597 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 it had 642 inhabitants.
