Aichkirchen is a municipality with 600 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in Upper Austria in the Wels-Land district in the Hausruckviertel .
geography
Aichkirchen is 448 m above sea level in the Hausruckviertel. The extension is 3.9 km from north to south and 2.8 km from west to east. The total area is 6.6 km². 10.6% of the area is forested, 77.3% of the area is used for agriculture.
Aichkirchen was part of the Lambach judicial district until 2012 and has been part of the Wels judicial district since January 1, 2013 .

The community consists of the cadastral community of Aichkirchen.
coat of arms
Blazon : In gold over a green oak branch with two outwardly inclined leaves and two upright acorns, a black, three-armed pontifical staff with clover leaf ends.
The community colors are black-yellow-green.
The papal cross staff in the coat of arms awarded in 1984 refers to the parish patronage Peter and Paul , together with the oak leaves it symbolizes the place name.
history
Originally located in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place belonged to the Duchy of Austria since the 12th century. It was first mentioned in a document around 1136 as "Eicha" in the tradition code of St. Peter Abbey in Salzburg. In 1449 the name Aichkirchen appears for the first time. Since 1490 the place has been part of the Principality of Austria ob der Enns . During the time of the Reformation , many residents converted to Protestantism. Aichkirchen was not re-Catholicized again until the Counter Reformation.
During the Napoleonic Wars , the place was occupied several times.
Since 1918 the place belongs to the federal state of Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria took place.

In the last municipal council election in 2015, the ÖVP got 71.8 percent or 10 seats, the FPÖ got 28.1 percent or three seats.

Population development
In 1991 the municipality had 480 inhabitants according to the census, then 497 inhabitants in 2001 and 519 inhabitants in 2008. In 2019, the population was 594. This represents a growth of 23.75 percent since 1991.
