František Oldřich Kinský (German: Franz Ulrich Kinsky ; born October 7, 1936 in Vienna ; † April 2, 2009 in Buenos Aires ) was a member of the former Czech aristocratic family Kinský who lived in Argentina and who became known through significant legal disputes with the Czech state .

Life

František Oldřich Kinský was the son of Prince Ulrich Kinsky (1893–1938) and his second wife Mathilde Freiin von dem Bussche- Haddenhausen (1900–1974). His siblings were or are: Ulrich (1918–1929), Maria Hosanna (1924–1960), Charlotte (* 1927), Eleonore (1932–1983) and Aglae (1932–1984 / 1991). The first three siblings came from the father's first marriage to Countess Katalin Széchenyi de Sárvár-Felsövidék (1893–1968).

After his father's death in 1938, when he was only two years old, he became his heir (and, according to historical nobility law, the 11th Prince Kinsky von Wchinitz and Tettau). During the German occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1940 he emigrated with his mother to Argentina, where he lived until his death. He inherited several of the family's possessions, including the Kinský Palace on the Old Town Square in Prague and the castles of Chotzen , Rositz ( Rosice u Chrasti im Okres Chrudim ), Bohemian Kamnitz and Zlonice . These possessions were confiscated from him in 1945 on the basis of the Beneš decrees . Since 2003, Kinský has been suing various Czech courts for the return of the property. A total of 157 lawsuits filed with a value in dispute of 1.3 billion euros. In 2005, the Czech Constitutional Court ruled that Kinský had no right to the return of the goods confiscated before the communist revolution in 1948. The lawsuits for other properties continued. He sold his only remaining property, the Palais Daun-Kinsky in Vienna , in 1986.

Kinský was married twice. From April 14, 1965 to 1977 with Roberta Cavanagh (1942–2002) and from October 24, 1977 with Helena Countess Hutten -Czapska (* 1941).

His son Karl from his first marriage to Roberta Cavanagh was born in 1967. Karl Kinský has been married to Maria de los Dolores Beccar Varela (* 1971) since 2000 and has three children. Since his father's death he has been the head of the Kinský family since April 1, 2009 (the 12th prince according to historical nobility law). He led an inheritance lawsuit against his stepmother Helena.
