Bachmanning is a municipality in Upper Austria in the Wels-Land district in the Hausruckviertel with 739 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The responsible judicial district is Lambach.

geography

Bachmanning lies at an altitude of 435  m above sea level. A. in the Hausruckviertel. The extension is 3.2 km from north to south and 4.3 km from west to east. The total area is 7.2 km². 12.5% ​​of the area is forested and 76.4% of the area is used for agriculture.

Bachmanning belonged to the Lambach judicial district until 2012 and has been part of the Wels judicial district since January 1, 2013 .

In 1991 the community had 571 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 it had 638 inhabitants.

Blazon : Divided by green and red by a silver, sloping left wavy bar, accompanied by a golden ear of wheat above, below by a golden key with a double beard and a cross in the handle.

The continuous sloping wavy band indicates the “ Bach ” name of the place, the grain ear in the green field symbolizes the agricultural character of the community, the church key reminds of the documented handover of the “ capella ad Pahmannon ” with goods to the Archbishop of Salzburg in 927 , Odalbert .

history

Bachmanning was first mentioned as "Pahmann vilula" around the year 700. Originally located in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place belonged to the Duchy of Austria since the 12th century . Since 1490 it has been assigned to the Principality of Austria ob der Enns .

During the Napoleonic Wars , the place was occupied several times.

Since 1918 the place belongs to the federal state of Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . From the end of September 1943, around 20 prisoners from Mauthausen concentration camp were assigned to work in the sawmill in Bachmanning (Großraming subcamp). After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria took place.
