Birgit Gerstorfer (* 10. October 1963 in Wels ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and, since July 7, 2016 Upper Austrian provincial government in the provincial government Pühringer V or state government Stelzer .

Life

Birgit Gerstorfer grew up in Alkoven and attended the Eferding Commercial Academy , where she graduated in 1983 . In 1990 she started at the Public Employment Service (AMS), initially in the regional office in Eferding, where she took over management at the age of 32. She later moved to Wels as head of the regional office. In 2006 she became deputy regional manager of the AMS Upper Austria and was responsible for the areas of quality management, controlling, customer service processes and women's issues. On August 1st, 2010 she was appointed regional manager of the AMS Upper Austria. At Johannes Kepler University , she attended a master's program in Professional Master of Management and Leadership , which she completed in 2013.

In 2015 she was awarded the Mostdipf Prize of the Upper Austrian News .

politics

On June 6, 2016, she was elected chairwoman of the SPÖ Upper Austria by the state party executive; at the extraordinary state party conference of the SPÖ Upper Austria on June 18, 2016, she received 95.8 percent of the vote in the election as chairman of the SPÖ Upper Austria.

She succeeded Reinhold Entholzer as state councilor in the state government of Pühringer V and was sworn in in this position at the state parliament session on July 7, 2016. She also temporarily took over the women's agendas from Thomas Stelzer , which were taken over by Christine Haberlander on April 6, 2017 .

On June 9, 2018, she was re-elected as state chairwoman with 89.68 percent of the vote at the state party conference of the SPÖ.
