Maximilian "Max" Hiegelsberger (born September 13, 1965 in Grieskirchen ) is an Upper Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. Since October 2010 he has been a regional councilor in the state governments Pühringer IV , Pühringer V and Stelzer .

Life

Hiegelsberger attended elementary and secondary school from 1972 to 1980 and then graduated from agricultural college by 1983. Hiegelsberger has been a skilled agricultural worker since 1984, and a forestry skilled worker since 1986. In 1988 he passed the examination to become an agricultural master. Hiegelsberger has been a certified bioenergy consultant since 2001 .

Since taking over his parents' business in 1989, Hiegelsberger has been working as a farmer and is a member of the board of Öko-Energie Meggenhofen .

politics

Hiegelsberger began his political career as chairman of the Young People's Party. He held the office between 1983 and 1990. He was then a councilor in Meggenhofen from 1991 to 2002 and was elected mayor in 2002, an office that his father Georg Hiegelsberger also held from 1961 to 1988. After Hiegelsberger was appointed regional councilor, he resigned from the office of mayor. Surprisingly, Wilfried Suchy ( SPÖ ), the candidate of the smallest local council group, was elected as his successor , although the ÖVP was represented in the local council with 12 of 18 seats. From October 23, 2009 until his election to the regional council, Hiegelsberger was a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament.

Since October 7, 2010, he has been a member of the Upper Austrian provincial government as successor to Josef Stockinger as regional councilor for agriculture, food and municipalities . Agriculture and forestry (including land reform, agricultural authorities and agricultural schools), hunting and fishing, the municipalities as well as veterinary and food control are in his area of ​​responsibility.

A controversial discussion sparked off his proposal to introduce a religious contribution, an income-related tax for people who do not pay church contributions. Most of the reactions to this were negative.

As regional councilor for agriculture, Hiegelsberger laid the foundation stone for the course in agricultural technology and management at the FH Upper Austria and enabled mobile slaughterhouses in Upper Austria. As a communal council, he initiated the new communal financing.

Hiegelsberger has been regional chairman of Upper Austria since October 24, 2011. Farmers' union.

Private

Hiegelsberger has been married since 1989 and has three sons (* 1990, 1994, 1999). He lives in Meggenhofen.
