Günther Steinkellner (born January 20, 1962 in Linz ) is an Austrian lawyer and politician of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ). He has been a member of the Upper Austrian provincial government since October 2015 .

Life

Günther Steinkellner attended the KV 18 elementary school in Linz and then the Bundesrealgymnasium Fadingerstraße Linz and the Federal Upper Level Realgymnasium Honauerstraße Linz . After graduating from high school , he did his military service and studied law at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz from 1982 to 1986 ( Magister iuris ). There he became active in the Corps Alemannia Wien zu Linz in 1983 . After his studies, he worked for Voest Alpine Intertrading , Mobil Oil AG , as a business trustee and trainee lawyer .

In 1989 he was the club director of the Freedom Parliamentary Club and from 1991 to 2002 Steinkeller was a member of the Leonding municipal council, and from 1991 to 2003 also a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament . He was district party chairman of the FPÖ Linz-Land from 1991 to 2003. From March 6, 2003 to October 23, 2003 he was regional councilor for environmental protection, women and consumer protection in Upper Austria. Between 2003 and 2005 he was regional party leader of the FPÖ Upper Austria . From July 2004 to April 2005 he was also deputy federal party leader of the FPÖ.

On September 13, 2005, he announced his resignation as regional party leader of the FPÖ Upper Austria. This followed as a consequence of the split of the BZÖ from the FPÖ, as a result of which the FPÖ regional party of Upper Austria wanted to take an independent course from the federal FPÖ. Günther Steinkellner was therefore temporarily excluded from the FPÖ in April 2005. After the exclusion from the party had been lifted in January 2006, Steinkellner was a member of parliament and until October 22, 2015 club chairman of the FPÖ in the Upper Austrian state parliament.

The Corps Vandalia Graz awarded him the ribbon in 2014. Since October 23, 2015 he has been State Councilor for Transport in the State Government Pühringer V and State Government Stelzer . His focus there is infrastructure .
