Reinhold Entholzer

Reinhold Entholzer (born August 7, 1959 in Grieskirchen ) is a social democratic politician and former regional councilor in Upper Austria .

Life & career

Reinhold Entholzer graduated from the HTL for building construction in Salzburg after attending the primary school in Peuerbach and the AHS lower level of the grammar school Wilhering and then started working as a technician at the ÖBB . His professional activity in civil engineering took him to various large construction sites in Austria until Reinhold Entholzer finally came back to Upper Austria in 1985 and worked for the ÖBB line management in Attnang-Puchheim and Linz.

Entholzer began to get involved in a union soon after entering the profession. In 1993 he became a member of the ÖBB Personnel Committee, in 2002 Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Railway Workers' Union , from 2006 regional chairman of the vida union and Vice President of the Chamber of Labor in Upper Austria.

On May 11, 2012, Reinhold Entholzer was sworn in as the successor to Hermann Kepplinger as regional councilor for traffic law, animal welfare and (most of the) administrative police in the state government of Pühringer IV .

Since 1991 he has been active in local politics in his home town of Steegen, where he still lives today. Entholzer is married and has two grown children.

On November 23, 2013, Reinhold Entholzer was elected the new chairman of the SPÖ Upper Austria with 95.5% of the delegate votes, succeeding Josef Ackerl in this function. He resigned from this position in January 2016.

On January 23, 2014, Reinhold Entholzer also took over the office of Deputy Governor from his predecessor Josef Ackerl .

Reinhold Entholzer was then in the Upper Austrian provincial government in particular responsible for the subject areas of public transport (task group overall traffic planning and public transport), for traffic law and traffic technology, as well as for part of the administrative police agendas of the province of Upper Austria. On January 23, 2014, he also took over responsibility for the Upper Austrian municipalities from Josef Ackerl.

After the SPÖ dropped to third place in the state elections in 2015 , he was a state councilor in the state government of Pühringer V from October 23, 2015 , responsible for social affairs, animal welfare and, in some cases, children and young people and communities. Entholzer resigned from the state council on June 16, 2016. He was followed by AMS boss Birgit Gerstorfer as regional councilor and chairwoman of the SPÖ Upper Austria.
