Hermann Kepplinger (born October 26, 1951 in Auberg ) is a former Upper Austrian Social Democratic Provincial Councilor (October 2003 to May 2012) and is now Finance Director of the City of Linz.

Live and act

After attending primary school in Haslach an der Mühl and the Collegium Aloisianum grammar school in Linz, he studied economics at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz, then did a doctorate at the University of Linz and the University of Vienna . His doctorate in social and economic sciences took place in 1992.

After completing his studies, Kepplinger first worked at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Growth Research in Vienna, before moving to the Chamber of Labor and Employees as a manager after three years , where he worked for seven years.

He then headed the Office for Economy and Business Settlement for four years as a so-called lateral entrant at the Linz City Administration and was chairman of the management of the non-profit group BFI (Upper Austria / BBRZ) Linz for four years . From April 1995 to October 2003 he was Finance Director of the Finance Administration business group of the Linz City Administration.

From October 23, 2003 to May 2012, Kepplinger was Upper Austrian Provincial Council, whereby his departments initially concerned the savings banks and housing subsidies. Since October 2009 he has been responsible for traffic, animal welfare and administrative police.

Since September 2012, Kepplinger has been Finance Director of the City of Linz again.

Kepplinger is married and has two children.
