Bernard Parmegiani (born October 27, 1927 in Paris ; † November 21, 2013 there ) was a French composer of electroacoustic music .

life and work

He studied piano and television sound engineering , partly worked as a pantomime and from 1954 to 1959 worked as a sound engineer for French television. Since 1960 he was a member of the Groupe de recherches musicales (GRM), where he was responsible for applied music . He is considered a key figure in electro-acoustic music and created numerous works of musique concrète , including the influential De natura sonorum from 1975, but also theater and film music . Parmegiani also dealt intensively with video art for years. He was the composer of the futuristic signature melody Indicatif Roissy for the announcements at Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle airport , which was used from 1974 to 2005.
