Indicatif Roissy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Indicatif Roissy is a composition by Bernard Parmegiani , member of the French Groupe de recherches musicales (GRM), from 1971. It was published on the Archives GRM CD collection .

From its opening in 1974 to 2005, the work, which was only five seconds long, served as the acoustic signal of the Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle airport near Roissy-en-France . It was used before each announcement in Terminal 1. The futuristic sound signal functioned as an equal part of the multisensual design of the airport and was intended to help shape the impression of the room.

As part of a new corporate identity for the operating company Aéroports de Paris , the Indicatif Roissy was replaced by a five-tone sequence in 2005.
