Mato Ergović

Mato Ergović (also Mate Ergović ; born January 11, 1927 in Novi Mikanovci ; † May 7, 2013 in Zagreb ) was a Yugoslav or Croatian actor .

Ergović began his acting career at the Vinkovci City Theater , but worked as a teacher for some time from 1947 after completing a pedagogy course. From 1951 to 1954 he studied at the Croatian Academy of Arts in Zagreb; then he was engaged at the city's Croatian National Theater. He stayed there for thirty years; Only in 1985 did he move to the Marin Držić Theater in Dubrovnik , where he performed until his retirement in 1992.

Ergović was a popular character actor who could portray both comical and crude characters; He did this in over 80 roles for television and film; His best-known roles were that of Domenico in the 1971 television series Nase malo misto (English: "Our little town") and three years later that of canon in the series U registraturi .

In 1970 he was awarded the City of Zagreb Prize.
