Norma Aparecida Almeida Pinto Guimarães D'Áurea Bengell (born September 21, 1935 in Rio de Janeiro ; † October 9, 2013 ibid) was a Brazilian actress and film director .

Life

Bengell began her film career in 1959 and appeared, especially in the following decade, in numerous films of international productions, including several times in Italy . But she also participated in the Brazilian Fifty Steps to Justice , which was nominated for an Oscar . She had already caused controversy the year before with a nude scene in Os cafajestes . From 1970 she was mainly employed again in her home country and was also committed to feminism ; since 1996 also repeatedly as a director. Her first own film was an adaptation of José de Alencar's novel O Guarani .

Bengell was also active as a singer; In 1959 she released the LP Ooooooh! Norma . From 1963 to 1969 she was married to the Italian actor Gabriele Tinti .
