Norbert Westenrieder

Norbert Westenrieder (born January 20, 1947 in Munich ; † November 14, 2013 ) was a German documentary filmmaker and non-fiction author .

Life

Norbert Westenrieder came to Würzburg at the age of six . He later studied philosophy and history at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg . In the 1960s, Westenrieder began making his own films. In 1974 he was one of the co-founders of the Internationales Filmwochenende Festival in Würzburg . In the 1980s, he shot numerous documentaries about everyday life in Nazi Germany for Hessischer Rundfunk . Including the documentaries: Work and Bread , Labor Front , Life in the Third Reich or Pogrom in the Province . In 1989, on Hitler’s 100th birthday, the ARD broadcast Norbert Westenrieder’s report Bündnis des Unheils - Die Deutschen und Hitler . In 2005, Norbert Westenrieder was honored at the Würzburg Festival with an exhibition of his own films.

In addition to his work as a documentary filmmaker, Westenrieder also worked as a non-fiction author, historian and IT consultant. Among other things, the band Deutsche Frauen und Mädchen! Was published in 1984 by Droste Verlag Düsseldorf . From everyday life 1933 - 1945 . Norbert Westenrieder last lived in Randersacker near Würzburg. He died on November 14, 2013 at the age of 66 after suffering from cancer for a long time.
