Maribel Verdú

Maribel Verdu (* 2. October 1970 in Madrid as María Isabel Verdú Rollán ) is a Spanish actress. The 1.66-meter-tall Madril woman began acting at the age of thirteen and appeared in several commercials .
In the course of her career she played in over 60 mostly Spanish television and cinema films. These include Vicente Aranda's crime drama Amantes (1991), the role of the visually impaired, pregnant Marina in Ricardo Franco's La buena estrella (1997) or the part as a courageous housekeeper and partisan member in Guillermo del Toro's Oscar- winning fantasy film Pan's Labyrinth (2006), which her each earned nominations for best leading actress for the Goya , Spain's national film award. She finally received the trophy in 2008 for Gracia Querejeta's drama Siete mesas de billar francés , in which she is seen as a single mother trying to build a new life with a billiard hall.
Maribel Verdú is married to Pedro Larrañaga, the son of the actors Carlos Larrañaga and María Luisa Merlo .
