action
Bennie, who is almost eighteen, goes to Buenos Aires to visit his older brother Angelo, whom he has not seen for over 10 years. His brother was in a mental hospital and broke ties with the family. In fact, he calls himself Tetro (short for the last name Tetrocini) due to a difficult relationship with his father, Carlo Tetrocini, a world-famous conductor. Tetro lives with Miranda in the Boca district and works as a lighting technician in a small theater. He only lets Bennie stay a few days, the time it takes to fix the broken cruise ship on which he works as a waiter. Although he left a letter to his younger brother before leaving, promising that he would come back one day to take him away and look after him, Tetro no longer wants to have a relationship with his family. One day, Bennie finds Tetros' writings and decides to transcribe them, having grown up on his older brother's myth and literary skills as he does not intend to be published. When Tetro finds out he is furious, but Bennie claims this is his story too and decides to do a theatrical representation of it. All of this forces Tetro to face the reasons for his escape and to reveal Bennie the difficult secret he has carried for years.
