Ende (original title Fin ) is a Spanish feature film by the director Jorge Torregrossa from 2012 . It is the film adaptation of the novel Fin by David Monteagudo .

action

A group of friends meets for a weekend in a house in the forest for the first time in twenty years. Among them is Eva, who is paid by Félix to play his girlfriend in front of the group. Only Ángel, called “The Prophet”, who initiated the meeting, does not appear. It is also the reason why the friends had not seen each other in the past twenty years. The last time they met, they drugged Ángel, which resulted in him being admitted to a mental hospital .

After the group observed a strange glowing phenomenon in the sky around a campfire during a nightly celebration , the power went out in the house and the cell phones and cars stopped working. When Rafa disappears the next morning, the friends make their way to the nearest house to organize help from there. However, they find the house abandoned. They decide to march through the mountains to the next place. In the process, they discover Ángel's car with his corpse, which has gone off the road. They later come to the wreckage of a crashed plane that does not contain any bodies.

During the march, more and more group members disappear without a trace, until in the end only Félix, Eva and Maribel are left, who come to an abandoned coastal town. There Félix Maribel shows a sketch pad that he found on Ángels corpse, and in which he has sketched the different stages of their journey. When the three discover a little girl in the village, they follow him to a sailing boat . There the girl dissolves into thin air before Maribel's eyes.

When suddenly a lion appears on the pier , the three want to sail out to sea by boat. Maribel loosens the lines of the boat and then walks up to the lion to die. So Félix and Eva sail alone into an uncertain future.

The end was shot in Madrid . It premiered on September 8, 2012 at the Toronto International Film Festival . The film was released in Germany on April 17, 2014 on DVD and Blu-ray .
