Sébastien Grall

Sébastien Grall (* 1953 or 1954 ; † July 11, 2013 ) was a French director and screenwriter who directed around 20 films, mostly produced for television, in France between 1982 and 2013. Including for films like A Father Seldom Comes Alone or Les Milles - Trapped in the Camp .

life and career

Sébastien Grall began his film career in 1977 as an assistant to the director Yves Boisset in his cinema production The Judge, whom they called Sheriff, with Patrick Dewaere in the lead role. At the end of the 1970s, two more jobs followed as assistant director for the directors Laurent Heynemann and Pierre Barouh.

In 1982 Grall directed the short film La nuit du lac before directing his first own feature film in 1986 with La femme secrète . In 1989 he made the comedy A Father Seldom Comes Alone, starring Eddy Mitchell , Guy Marchand and Véronique Genest . In 1995, based on his script, the war drama Les Milles - Trapped in the Camp with Jean-Pierre Marielle , Ticky Holgado , Rüdiger Vogler and Kristin Scott Thomas about the internment camp Les Milles in France was created.

In the 2000s, Grall made several award-winning television films and television series in France before returning to the big screen in 2012 with the film Hitch . A year earlier in 2011, he had made his directorial debut on stage with Alain Riou's play Hitch at the Lucernaire Theater .

Grall died on July 11, 2013 after a long illness at the age of 59. His daughter is the French actress Déborah Grall , granddaughter of the late actor Philippe Noiret .
