Lucyna Winnicka

Lucyna Winnicka (born July 14, 1928 in Warsaw ; † January 22, 2013 ) was a Polish theater and film actress . She also dealt with alternative medicine .

Life

After graduating from the Tadeusz Reytan Lyceum in Warsaw, she studied law at the University of Warsaw . Then she studied at the Warsaw Theater School . She married the film director Jerzy Kawalerowicz . Since 1954, she mostly played leading roles in her husband's films. Her roles in the films Nachtzug (1959, awarded a prize at the Venice Film Festival ) and Mother Johanna von den Engeln (1960) were particularly significant . For her role in “Mother Johanna von den Engeln” she was awarded the Étoile de Cristal as best foreign actress in France in 1962 . She also performed in the theaters of Szczecin and Warsaw. She played one of the roles in the Polish film series "Seconds Decide" from 1967–1968 (Polish Stawka większa niż życie). In 1977 she played her last film role.

Since then she has been engaged in alternative medicine and has written two books: “W poczekalni nieba” (In the waiting room of heaven - conversations about life and death) and “Podróż dookoła świętej krowy” (A journey around the sacred cow). She founded the "Academy of Life", where she taught unconventional healing methods, philosophy and Far Eastern medicine. She also worked for the weekly “Przekrój”.
