Robin Sachs
Robin Sachs (born February 5, 1951 in London , † February 1, 2013 in Los Angeles , California ) was a British actor and voice actor .
Life
Sachs' parents were actors Leonard Sachs and Eleanor Summerfield . His father was born in South Africa .
Sachs made his film debut in 1972 in the horror film Circus der Vampire , a production from the series of the Hammer films . He had a small role in 1981 in the British television series Brideshead Again . In 1991 he took on the role of Adam Carrington in Dynasty - The Reunion , the two-part graduation film of the series The Denver Clan , since the original actor Gordon Thomson was not available due to other contractual obligations.
Sachs has mostly played roles in the science fiction and fantasy genre throughout his career . His most famous role was the evil, with demons and vampires standing in league magician Ethan Rayne in the US television series Buffy - the Vampire Slayer (1997). He was the archenemy of the series character Giles, played by Anthony Head .
He had other episode roles in the science fiction series Babylon 5 (where he impersonated several different roles), the animated series Die Fantastischen Vier with new adventures (2005) (as the voice of the Silver Surfer) and in the television series Torchwood: Miracle Day (2011 ). In the TV series Star Trek: Spaceship Voyager , he played General Valen, who came from the Annari people, in the episode The Void in 2001 .
Sachs remained committed to the science fiction genre in his films . He has had roles in the films Forgotten World: Jurassic Park (1997), Ravager (1997, as Dr. Shepard microsurgeon) and Northfork (2003). In the movie Galaxy Quest - Planlos durch Weltall (1999), a parody of the Star Trek films, he played the villain General Sarris, almost unrecognizable under the make-up , at the side of Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman .
Sachs has also had episode roles and guest roles on the UK and US television series The House on Eaton Place (1973), Crown Court (1976), Jake and McCabe - Through Thick and Thin (1991), Murder Is Her Hobby (1993), Walker , Texas Ranger (1995), Pacific Blue - The Beach Police (1996), Baywatch Nights (1996), Nash Bridges (1996), Alias - The Agent (2005), Navy CIS (2012) and Castle (2012). He also had a small role as a dealer in the feature film Ocean's Eleven (2001).
As a theater actor , Sachs has appeared in touring productions of the Shakespeare plays Hamlet and Was ihr wollt .
Later in his career, Sachs worked frequently as a voice actor. He lent his voice to the bounty hunter Zaeed Massani in the video games Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 . He also had speaking roles in the video game Resident Evil: Damnation (2012, Ataman / Ivan Judanovich), in the role-playing game series Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (2003), in the computer role-playing game Dragon Age: Origins (2009, as Lord Pyral Harrowmon) and Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days (2010).
Private
Sachs was married twice. His first marriage was to the Welsh actress Siân Phillips (1979-1991). In his second marriage he was married to the actress Casey DeFranco (2001-2006).
Sachs died at the age of 61, shortly before his 62nd birthday. According to his website , the cause of death was heart failure .
