Anthony Stewart Head (born February 20, 1954 in Camden Town , London , England ) is an English actor .

Life

His parents are both from the movie business; his father Seafield Head as a documentary filmmaker and his mother Helen Shingler as an actress. His brother Murray Head is a musician and became known for the musical Chess , from which the 1980s hit “One Night in Bangkok” comes.

Anthony Head has lived with Sarah Fisher since 1982 and has two daughters with her who also work as actresses. His permanent residence is in Bath, Somerset, England, and he owns a house in Los Angeles .

Theater, television and film

Anthony Head began his training at the London Academy of Musical and Dramatic Art. His first engagements took him to the theater, where he appeared in Julius Caesar , Heinrich V , and was seen together with his brother at the Prince Edward Theater in Chess and especially as "Frank'N Furter" in The Rocky Horror Show .

Anthony Head has worked in a variety of television productions: he played his first role in 1978 in the twelve-part British television drama Enemy at the Door ; his first feature film was a small role in the remake of Lady Chatterley's Lover (1982). In 1992 Head went to the USA, where he was seen in a few supporting roles in well-known US television series . His real breakthrough came in America through appearances in commercials for coffee. He finally became known for his role as Rupert Giles in Buffy - The Vampire Slayer , dubbed in Germany by Thomas Nero Wolff .

Buffy fans also appreciate Head's original voice: In the episode Der Yoko Factor (The Yoko Factor) , Head Free Bird sings by Lynyrd Skynyrd and in The Insatiable (Where the Wild Things Are) the song Behind Blue Eyes by The Who . On February 5, 2002, Head released the audio CD Music for Elevators together with George Sarah , with Amber Benson , James Marsters and Joss Whedon , among others .

In the comedy series Little Britain , Anthony Head played the Prime Minister from 2003 to 2006, who suffers from his assistant Sebastian Love ( David Walliams ) , who is in love with him . In the rock opera film Repo! The Genetic Opera by Darren Lynn Bousman played Head 2008 the main role. In the same year he also appeared in the television series The Invisibles . In 2009 he played Stephen Caudwell, the boss of the two main characters, in the six episode British television series Free Agents . From 2008 to 2012 Head played the role of Uther Pendragon in Merlin - The New Adventures . In a remake of Shakespeare - tragedy Macbeth 2010 he plays the role of Duncan.

In 2011, as in the British version, Head was seen in the US series adaptation of the same name, Free Agents, alongside Hank Azaria and Kathryn Hahn ; the US version was canceled after the fourth episode due to the low viewership.
