James Marsters
James Wesley Marsters (born August 20, 1962 in Greenville , California ) is an American actor and musician . He became known for the role of the platinum blonde vampire Spike in the television series Buffy - The Vampire Slayer . He also played the role just mentioned in the final season of Angel - Hunters of Darkness .
Life
He grew up in Modesto with his brother Paul and sister Susan , was married to the actress Liane Davidson and has been divorced for several years. Today he looks after his son (Sullivan, born 1996) and his niece, with whom he lives in Los Angeles (Santa Monica). He has had a German girlfriend, Patricia, since 2004, to whom he has already dedicated a few songs as well as his complete second solo album. On January 14, 2011, the couple's wedding took place in Los Angeles.
After graduating from Davis High School , he attended the Juilliard School , Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts, and American Conservatory Theater . He worked for about 10 years as an actor in the theater , a. a. in New York , Chicago and Seattle . In the 1990s he moved to Los Angeles to begin his acting career.
After several supporting roles, u. a. in the series Alaska , of all things , he made his breakthrough with the role of the vampire Spike in the series Buffy - The Vampire Slayer . In 1999 he participated as a writer on the comic strip for the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Spike & Dru , which was published in the USA by Dark Horse Comics . In 2001, Marsters was able to demonstrate his vocal talent in a musical episode, Again with Feeling , in the series Buffy - The Vampire Slayer . In his role as Spike he also appeared in the final season of Angel .
Marsters was also the lead singer of the US band Ghost of the Robot , which in addition to the album Mad Brillant has also released three singles (Valerie, David Letterman, New Man) and the EP “ it's nothing ”. In June 2004, James Marsters announced the breakup of the band, but on Halloween of the same year he took the guitar again in London, this time as a solo artist.
The following year (2005) he released his album Civilized Man and toured the UK in April. Further concert appearances and a theater performance followed in October of the same year. He was one of the main characters in the film Shadow Puppets .
In the spring of 2007 James Marsters went to London for a few gigs and could be found at Collectormania 11 in Milton Keynes (UK). In October 2007 he released his second solo album Like a Waterfall .
In nine episodes of Smallville he played the android Brainiac , aka " Prof. Milton Fine ". He can also be seen in the 2nd season of the Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood as "Captain John Hart".
In 2007 produced and first broadcast in March 2008 on US television two-parter The Capture of the Green River Killer (dt. Green River trail of the killer ) he plays a supporting role to serial killer Ted Bundy .
In January 2008 the film PS I love you started in German cinemas. In the movie Dragonball Evolution , released in 2009, he can be seen in the role of Piccolo.
James Marsters has also been a sought-after audio book speaker since 2002. With the exception of the 13th volume, he has all previously published volumes of the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher , the three volumes of the steampunk series Vampire Empire by Clay & Susan Griffith and the fantasy novel Carnival Of Secrets (original title: Carnival Of Souls ) by Melissa Marr read.
