Amber Benson (2003)

Amber Nicole Benson (born January 8, 1977 in Birmingham , Alabama ) is an American actress , director and screenwriter , best known for her portrayal of Tara Maclay in the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer .

Career

Amber Benson danced on stage as a young child, took singing lessons and eventually took up acting. She became known for the role of Tara Maclay in the series Buffy - The Vampire Slayer , in which she played a lesbian witch from the fourth season onwards. The departure of her character towards the end of the sixth season of 2002 represented a clear change in the plot.

Benson was able to demonstrate her vocal talent in the Buffy musical episode Once Again with Feeling and on the album Music for Elevators (2002) by Buffy colleague Anthony Stewart Head .

Benson has made a name for herself in independent circles as the director and screenwriter of the films Chance (2002) and Lovers, Liars and Lunatics (2005), in each of which she also played the leading role. Both films were co- funded through merchandising and are produced by Benson Entertainment, the Benson family's production company.

She is also working on her first book series Jenseits GmbH , the first volume of which, Lieber Tod als Teufel , was published in Germany in October 2009.
