While Bridget is now six months dry and getting her life back on track, Siobhan lives a prosperous and spoiled life. After Bridget becomes the only witness to a contract killing by the Mafia , she is supposed to testify in court. But although her FBI agent assures her that she is in no danger, she fled to New York City without telling anyone . Once there, it looks like the two estranged sisters are cleaning up their tense relationship.

But when Siobhan disappears on a boat trip together, Bridget thinks she has committed suicide and takes on her sister's identity. In the process, she finds out shocking secrets, not only about her sister and her marriage, but also about Siobhan's best friend Gemma and her husband Henry. When someone tries to kill her in Siobhan's penthouse , she discovers that someone is apparently also killing Siobhan.

production

In January 2011 it was announced that CBS was producing a new series called Ringer . The pilot episode was written by Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder and directed by Richard Shepard . Filming for the first episode began in New York City in March 2011. Gellar acts as executive producer alongside Peter Traugott and Pam Veasey . On May 13, 2011, The CW , the sister station of CBS, ordered Ringer as a series and initially ordered thirteen episodes. This was followed by the announcement by ABC Studios that they would no longer produce the series because they did not agree to the change of channel. Four days later, Warner Bros. announced that it would continue to produce the series. With the announcement of the new autumn program for the 2011–2012 season, it became known that the series will be broadcast on Tuesdays after 90210 . In mid-October 2011, the broadcaster ordered a further nine episodes in addition to the thirteen previously ordered, bringing the first season to a total of 22 episodes.

Due to the unconvincing audience ratings, the station announced the cancellation of the series in May 2012.

The casting began in January 2011 with the engagement of Sarah Michelle Gellar . She plays the twin sisters Bridget Kelly and Siobhan Martin. Nestor Carbonell then joined the cast as Victor Machado, followed by Ioan Gruffudd as Andrew Martin and Mike Colter as Malcolm Howard. But since she fears that the FBI will not be able to protect her from the Mafia, she fled to her sister Siobhan in New York City. Siobhan is married to Andrew Martin, a hedge fund businessman . The next day she meets Siobhan's best friend Gemma, who tells her that she thinks her husband Henry is having an affair. This premonition also comes true when Henry tries to kiss Siobhan at a gala that evening. Meanwhile, the FBI agent Machado shows up and hopes to find Bridget with the help of Siobhan. Siobhan receives a call from Gemma, who orders her to the loft: She now knows who Henry is having an affair with. Meanwhile, the party in the Hamptons is going on, at which Gemma overhears a conversation between her husband and Bridget and learns that it is she who is having an affair with Henry. This could allow her to divorce him, but Bridget refuses and then tells Henry about Gemma's plan. Since Andrew's problems get too much for Andrew and to keep her away from the bad influence of her friends, he sends her to a public school. But when she snuck out that evening, they find her at a party. There, Andrew and Bridget inform Juliet about the background to the separation of Andrew and Juliet's mother, whereupon Bridget and Juliet now get closer. Meanwhile, Agent Machado notices Malcolm's disappearance and finds his car in Wyoming. The suspicion falls through traces of DNA on Macawi, whereby the FBI finds no evidence of Malcolm's whereabouts.

Bridget asks Charlie if he would like to be her new supervisor, to which he agrees. After Bridget and Henry accuse each other of harming Gemma, they conclude that she may have been the victim of a crime. After an anonymous phone call from Bridget, the police find evidence of Gemma's disappearance and then question Henry, but nothing comes of it. In the course of their investigation, they find Bridget's fingerprints on the evidence and report it to Agent Machado. In Paris, Siobhan receives a call from her secret accomplice, who tells her that the "Gemma problem" has been resolved.
