Tara Summers (born December 19, 1979 in London ) is a British actress .

Life

Tara Summers grew up in the London borough of Chelsea as the only daughter of the art dealer Martin Summers and the swimwear designer Nona Summers. She wrote the autobiographical piece Gypsy of Chelsea about her childhood and in it dealt in particular with the cocaine addiction and addiction cure of her mother Nona as well as her relationship with her mother, the bridge world champion Fritzi Gordon. She performed the one-person play herself in the Royal Court Theater in London and in Studio 54 in New York ; the proceeds went to the aid organization Action on Addiction . Summers graduated from Brown University with a degree in history in 2001, and continued her studies at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and the National Theater Institute.

Summers made her film debut in 2003 in a supporting role in the US comedy What Girls Want , followed by roles in Alfie (2004) and Factory Girl (2006), among others . She gained greater fame in 2007 through a leading role in the US justice series Boston Legal , where she played the lawyer Katie Lloyd in the fourth and fifth seasons . Along with the other lead actors in the series, Summers was nominated for the 2008 and 2009 Screen Actors Guild Awards for Best Acting Ensemble in a Television Series - Drama. The actress had other series roles in Dirt (2007), Damages - Im Netz der Macht (2010) and Private Practice (2011). In the 2011 aired first season of The CW series Ringer , she played Gemma Gallagher .

In 2011, Summers appeared with fellow actor Jack Davenport in the music video for the song Called Out in the Dark by the British band Snow Patrol .
