Zahn Tokiya-ku McClarnon (born October 24, 1966 in Denver , Colorado ) is an American actor . He was best known for his roles in the television series Longmire and Fargo .

Life

McClarnon was born in 1966 to a Native American woman of the Hunkpapa tribe and an Irish father. His mother lived on the Rosebud Indian Reservation . He himself grew up first in Nebraska and South Dakota and later under the care of his grandparents near Browning , in Glacier National Park in Montana .

McClarnon gained his first experience with theater appearances and with engagements for commercials . In the early 1990s he moved from Omaha to Los Angeles and shortly thereafter received his first roles in film and television productions.

Like his mother and older brother, McClarnon was a long-time alcoholic , which he was able to overcome after withdrawal. In 2002, he reported on his alcohol and drug addiction in Angelique Midthunder's documentary Need 4 Speed .

In 2012 he got the role of Officer Mathias in the crime series Longmire . He achieved even greater fame in 2015 through the role of Hanzee Dent in the television series Fargo .
