The Red Road is an American television series that was broadcast on SundanceTV from February 27, 2014 to May 7, 2015 . It was next to Rectify SundanceTV's second own television series. After two seasons, each consisting of 6 episodes, it was decided by SundanceTV that no third season would be ordered. The main roles in the series were played by Martin Henderson and Jason Momoa .

Sheriff Harold Jensen is living with his family in his hometown of Walpole, near New York City, when a New York University student is reported missing in the woods of the Ramapo Mountains near a Lenape Indian settlement that is hostile to the small town. While Harold seeks to keep the family blessing with his mentally unstable wife, Jean, a dangerous tribesman, Phillip Kopus, returns from prison. He is Jean's ex-boyfriend, whom she accuses of neglecting to help her drowning brother when she was high school. The couple's daughter, Rachel, meanwhile, has a date with Kopus' half-brother Junior. When Jean hits a tribe member in the Ramapo Mountains in search of Rachel and flees, Harold tries to cover it up. Kopus takes this opportunity to blackmail Harold into turning a blind eye while Harold is setting up an illegal drug trade. As a result, the family's history becomes increasingly entangled with that of the tribe members, and Harold and Kopus have to answer to the authorities.

The plot of the series based on the story of the Ramapough Mountain Indians near the Ringwood Mines Landfill site, a landfill in New Jersey , where poisonous in the late 60s to the early 70s wastes of the car manufacturer Ford from nearby Mahwah -Ford-Werk were deposited.
The original working title for the series was The Descendants . The production of both squadrons took place in the years 2013 and 2014 in Atlanta in the US -Bundesstaat Georgia instead. The German synchronization of the series was carried out at SDI Media Germany GmbH, Munich.
