from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Justin Bruening (born September 24, 1979 in Chadron , Nebraska ) is an American actor and former model . His acting career began in 2003 when he took on the role of Jamie Martin in the soap All My Children , which earned him a Soap Opera Digest Award in 2005.

In late 2007 - shortly after he left the soap - Bruening played the role of Mike Traceur , the son of Michael Knight , in a new edition of the original Knight Rider series in Knight Rider .

Life

Bruening grew up in the small town of St. Helena (Nebraska), which then had 85 residents; he graduated from high school with only nine classmates.

Bruening later moved to San Diego . There he was discovered by Sue Nessel, a talent scout for Scott Copeland International , in a McDonald’s in Escondido north of San Diego. A short time later, Copeland gave him his first job as a model at Abercrombie & Fitch .

Career

After his first job, Bruening was encouraged by Copeland to study acting. Judy Wilson (casting director) memorized him for All My Children . Bruening was originally slated for the role of JR Chandler on All My Children in July 2003 but eventually got the role of James "Jamie" Martin . For a short time (2004 and 2005) Bruening also played Jamie Martin in One Life to Live in a crossover story.

In his role as Jamie, Bruening became Daytime's Hottest Star in Teen People , Us Weekly , Star, and J-14 . In addition to his work in soap operas, he made a guest appearance on Hope & Faith . and a small role in the movie Fat Girls . He wanted the role of Superman in Superman Returns , but the producers picked Brandon Routh . He also appeared in Britney Spears' music video "Boys" .

In 2007 he had a guest role on the series Cold Case - No Victim Is Ever Forgotten .

In 2011 he had a guest role in the series Castle as a perpetrator.

On November 2, 2007 it was announced that Bruening would get the lead role in a new edition of the US series Knight Rider ; he plays Mike Traceur , son of previous driver Michael Knight . In a two-hour film on NBC , his predecessor is played by actor David Hasselhoff . The entertainment newspaper "The Hollywood Reporter" wrote of the similarities between the two actors:

“... the choice of Bruening closely resembles Hasselhoff's casting a quarter-century ago.
Like Bruening, Hasselhoff was a soap star ( The Young and the Restless ) with few other credits when he landed Knight Rider. He was almost the same age as Bruening ... "

Due to the high ratings for the film, NBC decided to continue the story as a series and commissioned an official series. The series ran between 2008 and 2009 and was discontinued after just one season due to falling audience ratings.

Private

Bruening proposed to former All-My-Children co-star Alexa Havins on the set of the soap. They were married on June 5, 2005. Shortly after Bruening left All My Children , Havins left the soap and the couple moved to Los Angeles . Havins gave birth to their daughter on August 10, 2010.
