action

Teenage friends Will, Simon, Jay and Neil are not exactly successful. Will learns from his father that he has married a younger woman, Simon is left by his girlfriend Carli and Neil has a less attractive job as a fish seller in the supermarket. While Jay is doing some porn, he hears that his grandfather has died. After all, all of the boys in this loser group have just graduated from school, much to the relief of the headmaster, Mr Gilbert. You now want to travel together and have fun. Neil books a trip to Malia in Crete for her . Their T-shirts with the label "Pussay Patrol" show what is important to them.

After arriving on the island, the first thing they see is their run-down hotel, the owner of which dumps a dead dog and warns them not to leave excrement on the ground. On the party mile, a promoter sends them to a supposedly great bar, which, however, turns out to be empty and boring. As the boys are about to leave, the young women Alison, Lucy, Lisa and Jane come in. They try weird dancing first before they just speak to the women. Will makes fun of Alison's Greek friend Nicos until he realizes she's serious. Simon howls Lucy's ears full of grief over Carli. Neil and Lisa sit there in silence, but then he approaches an unattractive older woman. Jay and Jane seem to be doing well, but he thinks the promoter is waiting for him. Despite the weak start, the women invite the boys to their hotel for the next day. Outside the door, Jay receives a rebuff from the promoter after he has become intrusive. Simon sees Carli and tries to talk to her, but her new lover James hits him with a quad bike . She also tells him that in a few days she will go to a party boat, which Simon wants to use. But then he learns that Neil chose Malia as his vacation spot because he knew Carli would be there too.

The next morning, in the hotel room, Will and Simon hear Neil having oral sex with the older woman. Meanwhile, Jay is lying outside by the well in an anthill, where he fell asleep drunk. In the girls' hotel it looks good at first, apart from the fact that Simon Will "draws" a penis on his back with sunscreen. But then Will gets into an argument with a family who have a disabled child and whose towels the boys have thrown away. Jay also has trouble with a little boy whom he pushes into the pool. The child is not a swimmer, but is rescued by other guests.

The boys have to leave the facility, whereupon Jay and Simon get into a solid argument. Will and Neil pull their two friends apart and initially move on with them separately. Since Simon desperately wants to buy a ticket for the party boat, he sells all of his clothes to James on the promenade, but James does not pay and leaves Simon naked. At the same time, Jay angrily tears up two of the four party boat tickets he bought as a surprise. He and Neil go to a club where, instead of attractive strippers, they see a man doing autofellatio . There they also meet James, who clearly rejects them in front of his friends.

In the evening the four boys meet again in the same bar as the day before and make up. The four young women come in again and suggest bathing naked in the sea together. Jane tries to kiss Jay, but when passers-by make fun of her excess weight, Jay is embarrassed and she walks away. Alison surprisingly lets Will touch her chest after telling him about a relationship for the next year. But when he is looking for his lost glasses in the sand, he discovers Nicos having sex with another woman, whereupon Alison runs away angrily. Lucy and Simon get closer in the water until he sees Carli and is more interested in his ex-girlfriend. The four boys are frustrated and excessively drunk.

The next day the boys and girls meet again on the beach. Will has a bad hangover, but Alison gives him Nico's ticket for the party boat and Lucy gives Simon her ticket after his apology so that he can go to Carli's boat. All four boys are there. When Simon observes an argument between Carli and James, she kisses her ex-boyfriend passionately to make James jealous, causing Simon to feel exploited. The other three couples (Jay and Jane, Will and Alison, Neil and Lisa) get closer. James makes fun of Jane's character. In revenge, Jay gives him a 20 euro note to sniff cocaine , which he kept in his bottom as a bribe. This gives James shit up his nose, which disgusts all women. While Lisa and Neil rub against each other, she is reluctant about his girlfriend, but then Neil claims that they broke up before the vacation, which he did not want to reveal. Simon finally realizes that Lucy is more valuable to him than Carli. He jumps from the roof of the party boat into the sea to swim to shore. However, he does not get far and has to be rescued by helicopter.

After the party on the boat, the boys and girls visit Simon in the hospital. After he has recovered, the new couples spend the rest of the vacation together. At the airport in England they meet the boys' parents. Neil runs away when he sees his girlfriend who he cheated on with Lisa. Meanwhile, Mr Gilbert is drunk and in a Rambo outfit on a quad bike through Malia.

Reception and criticism

The Inbetweeners Movie was regularly compared by reviewers in Germany with the genre-related American Pie .

Screenrush .com ruled unimpressed: "With Sex on the Beach added Ben Palmer the comedic subgenre" guys with hormone excess "little new addition." Kino.de could abgewinnen the film a positive side: "With biting, edgy humor confronted the film pretty much all Boys' dreams with the hungover reality. [...] The hearty British comedy doesn't skimp on vulgar ingredients, but still remains grounded. "

The film was extremely successful in the UK. In terms of content, it formed the conclusion of the series The Inbetweeners . It remained questionable why the film, which followed on from the last season in terms of content, was brought to cinemas in Germany, where the series had never been shown before and where there were no specific plans for its German premiere at the German theatrical release.

The film was shot in Crete only in small parts . Most of the recordings were shot on Mallorca in Magaluf and Peguera , among others . The scene at the beginning of the bus was taken on the MA 10 coastal road. The boys' gruesome hotel is located on the outskirts of Puerto Soller in western Mallorca. The legendary ruin is the starting point for various hikes and has been in complete decline for years.
