Raisin Delamare
Rosine Delamare (born June 11, 1911 in Colombes , Hauts-de-Seine ; † March 17, 2013 in Paris ; actually Denise Rosemonde Delamare ) was a French costume designer .
Life
Rosine Delamare was born in 1911 as the daughter of the author Georges Léopold Delamare and Beatrix Bienêtre in Colombes, not far from Paris . While her sister Lise Delamare opted for acting, Rosine Delamare worked as a costume designer for film from the late 1930s. In the 1940s she worked several times with director André Cayatte , for example in the Shakespeare adaptation The Lovers of Verona (1949) with Serge Reggiani and Anouk Aimée in the leading roles. This was followed by other star-studded productions in which she was involved as a costume designer, such as René Clair's Die Schönen der Nacht (1952) with Gérard Philipe and Max Ophüls ' Madame de… (1953) with Charles Boyer and Danielle Darrieux . For Ophüls' lavish literary film adaptation, Delamare and Georges Annenkov were nominated for the Oscar in the category Best Costume Design , which Edith Head won for Sabrina in the end.
Over the years Delamare has mainly dressed the stars of European cinema, including Jean Gabin , Jean Marais , Jeanne Moreau , Romy Schneider , Brigitte Bardot and Claudia Cardinale . In the 1960s, she also created the costumes for all five parts of the original Angélique film series, with Michèle Mercier in the title role. She also designed the costumes for films by well-known directors such as Christian-Jaque , Julien Duvivier , Jean Renoir and Robert Siodmak . Internationally it was used again in John Huston's adventure film The Roots of Heaven (1958) and Fred Zinnemann's thriller The Jackal (1973).
Delamare also made many appearances as a costume designer at the theater, for example at the Théâtre de la Renaissance and the Comédie-Française . Her theater works include plays by Bertolt Brecht , August Strindberg , Eugène Labiche , Georges Feydeau and Molière . Directors, under whose direction she worked, were among others Jean Meyer , Pierre Dux and from the mid-1970s especially Jean-Laurent Cochet .
For her last film, Alain Corneaus in the Sahara gambling War Fort Saganne with Gerard Depardieu and Catherine Deneuve , Delamare was nominated for the César in the category Best Costumes , but lost Yvonne Sassinot de Nesle .
Delamare was married to Maurice Pauliac and Harisson Elliott. Both marriages ended in divorce.
