Mary Marquet
Mary Marquet (born April 14, 1895 in Saint Petersburg , † August 29, 1979 in Paris ) was a French actress .
Life
Mary Marquet, born in Petersburg, comes from a family of artists, her aunt Delphine is a member of the Comédie-Française . Marquet himself became a member of the Comédie-Française and made his silent film debut in 1914. In 1915 she becomes the lover of Edmond Rostand , the relationship lasted three years until his death. Her distinctive voice was first heard on screen in 1932 in the lead role of Sapho . She didn't get her next film role until 1949 in Interdit au public .
She became famous in the cinema at the end of the 1950s with her age roles. Her best-known role is Catherine Deneuve's mother-in - law in Jean-Paul Rappeneau's film comedy Leben im Schloß (1966): As the dominant mother of Philippe Noiret, she grapples with Deneuve's film father Pierre Brasseur in a castle occupied by Germans. In the comedy genre, among others, in Gérard Ourys Drei Bruchpiloten in Paris alongside Bourvil and Louis de Funès . Bernard Toublanc-Michel gave her the role of matriarch in The Malicious Pleasure in 1975 , and Federico Fellini cast her in 1976 as Casanova's grandmother alongside Donald Sutherland in Fellini's Casanova . It was her last role before the gull with white wings , created in 1977 .
At times Mary Marquet was a poetry teacher in the courses of Jean-Laurent Cochet at the Théâtre Edouard VII in Paris , where she taught, among others, Claude Jade , her future film partner in Le malin plaisir .
