Golden ticket

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Golden Ticket is an award that has been given since 1983 in the form of a certificate for every feature film that has received more than 300,000 cinema visits in Austria within 18 months . If a film reaches 600,000 or one million visits in the period mentioned, it has received the Super Golden Ticket or the Diamond Ticket since 2002 . The recipient is always the distributor of the film in Austria. In 2008 the award was supplemented by the Austrian Ticket .

The prize is awarded by the Association of the Film and Music Industry (FAMA). These tickets are intended to represent recognition for feature films that fill the program, which have proven “through excellent attendance” , “that their form and content were applauded by the cinema audience and that they are suitable for raising the public image of the film as well as increasing interest in attending the film to promote."

Any film that is played in Austrian cinemas and for which its distributor in Austria applies to participate can receive the Golden Ticket . The period of 18 months, in which at least 300,000 visits must be achieved, begins with the original , first or re-performance. The audience figures are checked by a representative each of the auditing association of the film distribution and sales companies and the professional association of cinemas and audiovisual organizers .

Since 2008, taking into account the ever shorter film exploitation times, there has been a 12-month period in which the number of visitors must be achieved. This deadline is also set to October 1st on a key date.
