Chieko Honda

Chieko Honda ( Japanese 本 多 知 恵 子 , Honda Chieko ; born March 28, 1963 in Tokyo Prefecture ; † February 18, 2013 ) was a Japanese voice actress ( seiyū ).

Life

Chieko Honda was born in Tokyo Prefecture and grew up in neighboring Kawagoe until she and her mother moved to Nagano with her mother after her parents divorced during elementary school . She got the idea of ​​becoming an actress when she played a role from 11-piki no Neko (filmed as Elf Hungry Cats ) at a school party . After graduating from school in 1981, she trained at an acting school belonging to Theater Echo and the Haikyō talent agency . After graduating in 1983, she received an extra role as Machiko Sugata in the anime series Plawres Sanshirō .

A year later she got her first big role as Fanneria Amu in heavy metal L-Gaim . Her breakthrough followed in 1986 with the role of Elpeo Ple Kidō Senshi Gundam ZZ , who was awarded Best Female Character at the Anime Grand Prix and the Nihon Anime Taishō . In 1987 she played the leading role in OVA Elf 17 .

In 1988/9 she left the Haikyō agency and worked as a freelancer for 20 years until she was managed by the Max Mix agency from February 2008 , became a freelancer again in 2010 and then switched to Aoni Production on November 1, 2012 .

In 1999 and 2009 she gave a live concert with Maria Kawamura , who also had a role in heavy metal L-Gaim , to mark her 15 and 25 year dubbing anniversaries : Maria & Chieko Animation Hit Parade and Maria & Chieko Animation Hit Parade '09 <Returns> .

She died on February 18, 2013 of multiple cancer.
