Corinne Jacker

Corinne Jacker (* 29. June 1933 in Chicago , Illinois as Corinne Muriel Litvin ; † 11. January 2013 in New York City ) was an American playwright and screenwriter .

Life

Corinne Jacker was born as Corinne Muriel Litvin, daughter of Thomas and Theresa Bellak Litvin. She studied drama at Northwestern University , where she received her bachelor's and master's degrees . She later married Richard Jacker, whose family name she kept after the divorce. At the age of 25, she moved to New York City , where she wanted to establish herself as a writer. Although she wrote several books, she failed. Her piece Bits & Pieces was not successfully performed on Off-Broadway until she was 40 . This and also with Harry Outside , which was performed the following year , she received an Obie Award .

On January 11, 2013, Jacker died in her Manhattan apartment of multiple strokes at the age of 79.
