Mickey Rose

Mickey Rose (born May 20, 1935 in Brooklyn , New York City , † April 7, 2013 in Beverly Hills , Los Angeles ) was an American screenwriter .

Career

Rose, who grew up in Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood and in Crown Heights and attended Midwood High School with Woody Allen , played drums with Allen in a jazz band and wrote the scripts for Allen’s early works, What's , after studying film at New York University Up, Tiger Lily? (1966), Woody, the unlucky fellow (1969) and Bananas (1971). In the following years Rose worked for Sid Caesar , Johnny Carson , the Smothers Brothers and Dean Martin , and he also wrote for television series such as Männerwirtschaft or Too Close for Comfort . In 1981 he directed the comedy What is the dead man doing on the clothesline? . Rose died in Beverly Hills in April 2013. He is the father of actor Quincy Rose , who starred in Woody Allen's film Melinda and Melinda .

Rose was nominated for the WGA Award from the Writers Guild of America in 1970 and 1972, respectively .
