Vincenzo "Enzo" Jannacci (born June 3, 1935 in Milan ; † March 29, 2013 ibid) was an Italian singer and songwriter , composer , actor , cabaret artist and doctor. He is considered one of the most important artists in Italy after the Second World War .

life and career

Jannacci is widely regarded as a master of musical art and cabaret; In the course of his career he has worked with many well-known Italian musicians, artists, journalists, television personalities and cabaret artists. After graduating from the Conservatory of Music, he studied medicine. In total, he has written around 30 albums and pieces of music, some of which are considered milestones in the history of Italian popular music . He is also - together with Adriano Celentano , Luigi Tenco and Giorgio Gaber - one of the founders of Italian rock'n'roll. He worked with some of them for over 40 years. In the field of modern jazz he played a. a. with Gerry Mulligan , Stan Getz , Chet Baker , Franco Cerri and Bud Powell . He also composed the music for seventeen films between 1961 and 1996.

Jannacci also had a civil profession. After graduating from the Conservatory in Milan, where he studied harmony, composition and orchestral direction, Jannacci studied medicine in 1967 and later specialized in cardiac surgery in South Africa with Christiaan Barnard .

Jannacci's son Paolo (* 1972) is also a musician.
