Pierre Massimi (born July 27, 1935 in Calenzana , Corsica ; † October 11, 2013 in Bastia , Corsica) was a French actor who was best known for his leading roles in lavish television series .

Life

Pierre Massimi is said to have spent parts of his youth in Marseille and Guinea . Before he decided to pursue a career as an actor, he attended the École Centrale Paris . In 1956 he was discovered by Sacha Guitry for the film Si Paris nous était conté . He plays a young photographer attending an anniversary. He has a major supporting role in 1957 as Mario in Haunted Women ( Marchands des filles ) by Maurice Cloche. This is followed by the supporting role of Didier in the crime thriller Isabell is afraid of men ( Isabelle a peur des hommes ). He is best known for a leading role alongside Curd Jürgens and Capucine in Oberst Strogoff (1960). In 1962 he finally starred in the film Hot Goods for Saigon (Transit à Saïgon). It follows with innocent outlawed a film adaptation of Xavier de Montépins La porteuse de pain in which he beside Suzanne Flon , Philippe Noiret and Jean Rochefort plays the Lucien Labroue. This was followed by rather irrelevant films such as the colportage The Curse of Erotica ( Le conseguenze ). Pierre Massimi turned to television and acted in series: as Jean-Jacques in The Deserted Village (1965) and as Berg in Belle and Sebastian (1965). This was followed by a number of major roles in television and supporting roles in movies such as The Secret of Bloody Pearls (1967). In 1968 he played the lead role in the series Les Secrets de la Mer Rouge ( Adventure on the Red Sea ) about the famous French adventurer Henri de Monfreid .

In the following year he played another adventurer, the Mohican Chingachgook, in an elaborate film adaptation of the leather stocking novels by James Fenimore Cooper . The four-part series was broadcast in Germany as Die Lederstrumpferzählungen and in France as La Légende de Bas de Cuir . Due to great demand, there were many repetitions on German television. The magazine Bravo devoted long articles to Massimi, for which one even traveled to his house in Paris. In January 1971 the readers of this magazine voted him “Star of the Month”. Unlike the Canadian Mohawk Jay Silverheels ("Tonto" in The Lone Ranger ) before him and his French compatriot Pierre Brice ( Winnetou ) after him, Pierre Massimi only played an Indian hero in a single production.

Shortly after the four-part series, the film Because I love began, in which Pierre Massimi and Claude Jade were supposed to play a young couple, with Edwige Feuillère , Jacques Dufilho and Antonella Lualdi as well . But then director Rinaldo Bassi ran out of money. Pierre Massimi also played two supporting roles for the cinema: as Robert Dassa in addition to Michel Bouquet and Françoise Fabian in A Bull Sees Red (Un condé) by Yves Boisset and as Aletti in Dreams on Order (Ils) with Michel Duchaussoy . Then he shot exclusively for television, again in leading roles. He had a comeback in the cinema 13 years later - in 1983 in Blood on the Asphalt ( Flics de choc) . Except for Nous deux (1992), Massimi continued to shoot only for television.

Pierre Massimi died on October 11, 2013 after a long illness.
