Suzanne Flon

Suzanne Flon (born January 28, 1918 in the Paris suburb of Le Kremlin-Bicêtre , † June 15, 2005 in Paris ) was a French theater and film actress .

Life

Flon was the daughter of a railroad worker and a seamstress. She left school at 17 and worked as an English interpreter and as a saleswoman in a department store.

She first appeared on a theater stage in 1943 at the Comédie des Champs-Élysées , after having worked for a few months as Édith Piaf's private secretary . She quickly rose to become one of the most famous actresses in France.

After the war ended in 1945, she began her career as a film actress. For her role as Madame Cordier in Claude Autant-Lara's Tu ne tueras point , Flon was awarded the Coppa Volpi for best actress at the 1961 Venice International Film Festival . In 1984 she received her first César for her supporting role in A Murderous Summer , the second was awarded to her in 1990 for the supporting role in Georges Wilson's award-winning fantasy film La Vouivre . As best theater actress, she also received the French Molière Theater Prize twice .

Flon died on June 15, 2005 shortly after filming A Perfect Place at the age of 87 of complications from gastroenteritis . Her last film was dedicated to her.
